Santacon (and it's no-potential-for-religious-mockery Halloween equivalent, Zombiecon) is meant to be fun, not shocking per se. While this still fits your perpetual adolescence theory, I think the point is to recapture the childhood joy in the holidays, not mock it. I mean, how fun are holidays really for adults?
